WATERVILLE, Maine - The Colby-Sawyer women's tennis team defeated Castleton, 6-0 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) East Division championship match at the Alfond-Wales Tennis Courts late Saturday evening to claim the school's third-consecutive title.
The Chargers got off to an important 3-0 start after the completion of doubles play. The No. 1 doubles duo of Ashlyn Ramsay and Ashley Woodside, the NEAC East Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year, cruised to an 8-0 victory over Meghan Susslin and Shannon Haggerty. Colby-Sawyer's Oxana Tkachenko and Sam White handled Olga McIntyre and Sara Novenstern, 8-1 at No. 2 doubles. The No. 3 doubles match was the closest as Colby-Sawyer duo Ellen Graham and Christine Hill outlasted Kaydeen Juaire and Taylor Reynolds for a hard fought 8-4 victory.
The match clinching point came simultaneously, as Woodside who won her No. 2 singles match 6-1, 6-0, and Ramsay won her No. 1 singles match 6-0, 6-0.
White also took her third singles match by a score of 6-2, 6-1.
Colby-Sawyer will now await the winner of the NEAC West Division tournament, to be played on April 24-26, to then play for the NEAC Championship on May 3 for an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

Beginning with the 2010 season, North Atlantic Conference (NAC) members Castleton, Johnson State, Lyndon, and Thomas have played in the NEAC as associate members in the East Division. Colby-Sawyer joined the NAC in 2011 and MCLA joined as an associate member in 2012, while Green Mountain added women's tennis in 2014. Each Division will hold a championship and the two divisional champions will compete in the spring, with the winner earning the automatic qualifier to the 2015 NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament.
