NEC Wins 2019 NAC Men's Lacrosse Championship

Canton, NY – A strong second half carried visiting New England College (NEC, 9-8) to its fourth straight North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship, 17-8, at SUNY Canton (10-7) on Saturday in the first year of an alliance with the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) as announced earlier this year. The Pilgrims earned the NAC automatic qualification bid to the NCAA DIII Men's Lacrosse Championship and await selections on Sunday at 9:00 PM. Watch the selection show live, HERE.


  • SUNY Canton jumped out to a 5-3 lead after the opening quarter behind three goals and an assist from Olsen in the opening 15 minutes. With the hosts leading 6-4 with just more than six minutes remaining New England College scored twice over the final 5:31 as the teams headed to intermission tied at 6-6 in a highly entertaining first half.
  • The Pilgrims scored the first nine goals of the second half spanning early into the fourth quarter, running off 11 straight scores overall to open up a 15-6 advantage 23 seconds into the final frame. Josh Yelvington and Noah Robinson broke the scoring drought with back-to-back tallies 48 seconds apart but NEC earned the victory.
  • Olsen paced the hosts with three goals and three assists, while Robinson finished with two goals and two assists. Yelvington recorded two goals and an assist.
  • Connor Smith led the Pilgrims with six goals and one assists and Reilly Parker posted three goals and four assists. Patrick Storie chipped in two goals and three assists, while Charles Hacking added a goal and two assists. Austin Frankel went 16-for-22 in the X and picked up a game-best 12 ground balls.
  • Kody Kocsis made a season-high 23 saves in the loss including 11 in the first half while allowing just six first-half goals. William Platt turned aside 12 shots in the victory.
  • Reilly Parker was named the Tournament's Most Valuable Player, joining Smith, Frankel and Connor Smith on the All-Tournament Team. Yelvington, Olsen and Brandon Schmidt earned spots on the All-Tournament Team for SUNY Canton.
