(Senior, Center - Gorham, ME)
Farmington's Tanguay scored 25 points with 10 rebounds in the semifinals versus Green Mountain and added seven points and six rebounds helping Farmington to the NAC men's basketball championship.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Brock Bradford, Husson University
(Sr., Guard - Kenduskeag, ME)
Two weeks after returning from an ACL tear, Bradford averaged 19 points per game while shooting 48% from the floor in Husson's wins over Green Mountain and Castleton. The senior guard was 10-21 from behind the three point line, knocking down a season-high six in a win over Green Mountain. (season stats)

 

 

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Jason Gray, Lyndon State College
(Freshman, Forward - East Thetford, Vt.)
Gray closed out his first season in the Conference averaging a double double over the final two conference games of the year. On Friday, Feb. 19, he collected 12 points and 12 rebounds in a 91-73 loss to Thomas. One day later, Gray closed out the 2009-10 season by scoring 12 points and grabbing eight rebounds in a 88-64 loss to Farmington. (season stats)

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Leandro Martinez, Johnson State College
(Sr., G - Philadelphia, Penn.)
Leandro Martinez led Johnson to a 3-0 week by averaging 23.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2 assists per game while shooting 57% (24-42) from the floor, 52% (13-25) from 3-point land, and 91% (10-11) from the FT line. Martinez canned a pair of game-winning free throws with :06 remaining in a 86-85 decision at Lyndon on Tuesday. On Friday Martinez netted a game-high 23 points including 5-6 effort from the 3-point line in a 65-55 win over Maine Maritime. He completed his week by hitting a 10-foot left-handed floater with :04 remaining to give Johnson a 66-64 victory over Husson on Saturday. (season stats)

 

 

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Francisco Alicea, Thomas College
(Freshmen, Forward - Foxboro, MA)
Alicea averaged 17.3 points and 8.6 rebounds while shooting 67% from the floor (24-of-36) in a 1-2 week for the Terriers. The freshman scored 25 in a non-conference loss to Colby 71-69 and added 11 on 4-of-5 shooting in a 70-69 win at Green Mountain. (season stats)

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Derick Faragon, Castleton
(So., Guard - Schenectady, NY)
Faragon led the Spartans to a 2-0 week, averaging 22 points and seven rebounds in wins over Johnson State and Lyndon State. The Sophomore swingman scored a game-high 21 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field and a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line in the 73-56 win over the Badgers. On Saturday, with the team trailing 69-59, Faragon netted seven of his game-high 23 points (including a pair of free throws with four seconds left) during a 13-2 run over the final four minutes of the game that gave the Spartans a 71-70 win. Faragon shot 59% (16-for-27) from the field, 50% (2-for-4) from three-point range and 91% (10-for-11) from the free throw line on the week.

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Jarrad DeVaughn, Thomas College
(Freshmen, Forward - Brockton, Mass)
DeVaughn averaged 15 points and six rebounds in a 2-1 week for the Terriers. In a conference victory at Husson, the freshman forward led all scorers with 26 points and pulled down eight boards along with five steals.

Josh Jones, Husson University
(So., Forward - Jefferson, ME)
In three games this week, Josh Jones shot 63.8% from the floor (23-36) while averaging 20.3 points, 17.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. Jones tallied a team leading 27 points with 17 boards in Husson's conference win against Johnson state and 24 points and 16 rebounds in a win against Lyndon State. The sophomore added 10 points with 20 rebounds in a loss at UNE for his third double double of the week.

 

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

O'Bee Byrd, Lyndon State College
(Freshman, Center - Waterbury, CT)
For the week, Byrd averaed 14 points and six rebounds as the Hornets earned two North Atlantic Conference victories. The freshman center connected on 59 percent of his shots (17-29) from the field. On Tuesday, Byrd scored a career-high 22 points, grabbed six rebounds and had one blocked shot in a 77-75 victory over Johnson State. Later in the week, he was 5-of-9 from the field as he dropped in 13 points and pulled down seven rebounds as the Hornets defeated Maine Maritime Academy, 89-82. He closed out the week on Saturday, Jan. 30 with seven points, five rebounds, and one blocked shot in an 89-70 loss to Husson.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Matt MacKenzie, Husson University
(Senior, Forward - Warren, ME)
Matt MacKenzie paced the Eagles this week averaging 19 points per game while shooting 71%  (25-35) from the field in a 2-1 week. Against Green Mountain, MacKenzie recorded 26 points and 7 rebounds, shooting 11-16 from the floor. MacKenzie netted 16 points going 7-8 from the floor against Castleton. In Husson's loss to Maine Farmington, MacKenzie tallied 15 points and three rebounds, while shooting 7-11 from the floor.

Mark Comstock, Castleton
(Freshman, Forward - Rutland, VT)
Comstock helped Castleton to a pair of conference wins in three tries this week, averaging 14 points per game. In a 81-67 defeat of Lyndon, Comstock scored six points with five assists playing 34 minuts. The freshman swingman scored 15 points with five rebounds in a loss to Husson before capping the weekend with a game-high 21 points in Castleton's win over Maine Maritime.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Rui Carmo, Green Mountain College
(Senior, Forward - Cape Coral, FL)
Green Mountain College's Rui Carmo recorded a pair of double-doubles last week against Lyndon State and Wells College. Carmo tallied 40 points and 12 boards in a loss to the Hornets followed by a 33 point 17 rebound effort against the Express. The senior averaged 36.5 points with 14.5 rebounds while shooting 50% from the field.

 

 

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Jarrad DeVaughn, Thomas College
(Freshmen, Forward - Brockton Massachusetts)
In two contests, DeVaughn averaged 27 points with 11 rebounds. The freshman forward recorded back to back double doubles against Husson (23 points and 10 rebounds) and Farmington (31 points and 12 rebounds) including 8 of the last twelve points to secure a 63-62 win over Farmington.

Derrick Faragon, Castleton
(So., Guard - Schenectady, NY)
Faragon averaged 17.3 points and 5 rebounds per game in leading Castleton to a 2-1 mark over the past week. The sophomore swingman shot 21-for-39 (.538) from the field and 6-for-16 (.375) from three-point land to lead the Spartans. Faragon had game-highs in all three contests, scoring 15 points in a 72-68 win over then 7-1 Skidmore, 14 points in a 61-53 loss at Framingham State, and 23 points in a 75-74 win over St. Joseph (Vt.), including eight-straight points down the stretch to seal the win.

Marc Zaharchuk, Husson University
(FY, Center - Richmond, ME)
First year student Marc Zaharchuk (Richmond, ME) had a breakout performance in Husson's win against University of Southern Maine. Zaharchuk tallied 15 points and shot 5-6 from the floor and 5-5 from the free-throw line. Against Colby, Zaharchuk collected 13 rebounds and 7 points in Husson's losing effort. The first-year student has been seeing considerably more playing time off the bench as the season has progressed.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Eric Taylor, Me.-Farmington
(JR, F - Oakland, ME)
Taylor averaged 25.5 points and 10.5 rebounds with a .769 field-goal percentage (20-26) in an 0-2 week for the Beavers. The junior poured in a career-high 40 points in a loss to Southern Maine -- the most by a Farmington player since Daren Meader '00 set the program single-game standard at 44 in 2000.

 

 

 

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Avery King, Lyndon State College
(Freshman, Guard - Pawtucket, R.I.)
King scored a game-high 24 points, grabbed two rebounds and had two steals in Lyndon's 83-54 loss to Division I Dartmouth College on Sunday. On Saturday, he tossed in 27 points, dished out three assists and had two steals in the Hornets' 101-79 victory over New England College. King opened the week with a 12-point, three-reboound performance in a 74-60 setback at the hands of Playmouth State University On Thursday, Dec. 10. In a 1-2 week the freshman averaged 21 points.

Avery King, Lyndon State College
(Freshman, Guard - Pawtucket, R.I.)
King continued his string of early-season success by averaging 26.5 points, five assists, four steals and four rebounds as Lyndon split a pair of contests with Vermont Tech and Western New England College. On Thursday, Dec. 3, King poured in 39 points, including an eight-for-13 effort from beyond the three-point arc, as the Hornets stung the Green Knights 91-75. In addition to his scoring exploits, King also had four rebounds, four assists and a game-high five steals in the contest. Two days later, King had 14 points, six assists, four rebounds and three steals in Lyndon's 86-82 loss to the Golden Bears.

Jarrad DeVaugn, Thomas College
(Freshmen, Forward - Brockton, MA)
DeVaugn averaged 17.5 points and six rebounds in a pair of contests this week. The freshman forward scored 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting with nine rebounds in a 92-82 win over WPI following a 17 points performance in a loss to Bates.

Andrew Duncanson, Thomas College
(Junior, Guard - Westbrook, ME)
Duncanson scored 25 points on 8-of-16 shooting and grabbed six rebounds leading the Terriers to an 85-71 victory over Tufts. The juinor reached 1000 career points during the contest.

Chuck Harper, Johnson State College
(Fr., F - Philadelphia, Penn.)
Chuck Harper scored nine points and grabbed six rebounds while going 4-for-8 from the field in a loss to Middlebury College, the Badgers only game of the week.

Leandro Martinez, Johnson State College
(Sr., G - Philadelphia, Penn.)
Leandro Martinez averaged 26.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.7 steals per game while shooting 53% from the field, 47% from the 3-point line, and 87% from the FT line in an 0-3 week for Johnson State. Martinez earned Inn at Middletown All-Tournament recognition at Wesleyan University.

 

 

 

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Avery King, Lyndon State College
(Freshman, Guard - Pawtucket, R.I.)
King averaged 22.0 points and 4.5 rebounds for the week as Lyndon State opened the season with a record of 2-2. He scored 15 points and had four assists in Lyndon's 103-81 loss to Plattsburgh State before erupting for 29 points, three assists and four steals in a 111-97 victory over the College of St. Joseph (Vt.). At the 14th annual Wheaton Tip-off Tournament, King poured in 34 points to go with three assists and three steals, as the Hornets fell 97-84 to the tourney host. In the consolation game, Avery tossed in 10 points and dished out three assists as Lyndon salvaged a 85-67 win at the expense of Salve Regina. King's efforts landed him a selection on the all-tournament team.
