    MEDFORD, Mass. -- Maine Maritime Academy volleyball fell to Johnson & Wales University, 3-1 (22-25, 25-11, 25-11, 25-9) on Friday afternoon in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Mariners are the first North Atlantic Conference (NAC) team to claim a set victory since the conference earned an automatic qualifier in 2004.

The sixth-seeded Roos end their season at 7-10-2 after advancing to the semifinal round with an upset win over #3 SUNY Delhi. #2 Thomas moves to 9-8-1 with the win.

The Beavers (9-9-1) advance to the championship game on Sunday, November 10 with the host Mariners. Husson's season comes to a close at 6-6-1.

Northern Vermont University-Johnson first-year Porsche Johnson collected Rookie of the Year honors and her coach, Keven John, was chosen as the Coach of the Year. SUNY Canton Senior Jenna Roat was chosen as the Defensive Player of the Year.

    UMaine-Farmington edged Husson for the top spot in the 2019-20 North Atlantic Conference preseason coaches poll. The Beavers collected four first-place votes and 58 points, while the Eagles collected three first-place votes and 56 points. Thomas College picked up the remaining first-place votes and totalled 48 points for third place in the poll.

    Maine Maritime Academy head coach Billy Shannon and senior Matt Caron claimed their second-consecutive major North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Men's Soccer post season awards, as Shannon repeated as Coach of the Year and Caron repeated as Player of the Year. UMaine-Farmington senior Andrew Longhurst was voted Defensive Player of the Year. Thomas College first-year forward Eric LaBrie earned Rookie of the Year, and UMaine-Presque Isle senior Chad Bartlett earned the title of 2019 Senior Scholar Athlete.

The Eagles received six first-place votes for a total of 62 points. Last year's runner-up Maine Maritime Academy received the remaining two first-place votes and 58 points in a repeat prediction

Husson runner Patrick Welch was chosen as the 2019 Senior Scholar Athlete, and Maine Maritime Academy head coach Ryan King was voted the Coach of the Year.
